Work with us
A small, independent industrial hygiene firm in Silver Spring, Maryland. Two principals and a small field team, and more work in DC, Maryland and Virginia than we can get to.
What the job actually is
Most days are field days. You drive to a house, an apartment building or a construction site, walk it with a moisture meter and a thermal camera, document what you find with photos and readings, and collect air and surface samples that go to an accredited lab. On asbestos jobs you run air sampling pumps during abatement and read PCM cassettes for same-day clearance. The other part of the job is writing: readings and photos go into a report that a buyer, a landlord, an attorney or a general contractor will act on, so it has to be clear and it has to be right.
We do not sell remediation, so nobody here is paid to find problems. We inspect, test, and write down what is there.
What we look for
- Comfortable in the field. Attics, crawlspaces, mechanical rooms, occupied apartments and active construction sites, in a hard hat and vest, in summer.
- Careful with data. Every number in a report traces to a reading or a lab sheet. If you like getting the details right, you will like it here.
- Licensed, or ready to be. AHERA asbestos inspector, NIOSH 582 for PCM counting, or a DC DOEE mold assessor license are each a plus. We pay for the training and the licenses for the people we hire.
- A clean driving record and your own vehicle. Most sites are within an hour of Silver Spring.

Roles we hire for
Field technician, asbestos monitoring. Air sampling during abatement, PCM clearance, bulk sampling on surveys. Hourly, with overtime over 40 hours. NIOSH 582 and a Maryland asbestos inspector license are a plus; we will train the right person.
Mold and moisture inspector. Residential and multifamily inspections, moisture mapping, spore trap sampling, and report writing to the ANSI/IICRC S520 standard. DC DOEE mold assessor license or the ability to get one.
Internship. For environmental science, public health or construction management students who want field hours and a look at how reports get written.
Openings depend on the season. If nothing is posted, send a resume anyway; we keep them and call when the work grows.

How to apply
Email a resume and a few sentences about why this work interests you to [email protected]. Include any licenses you hold and where you live. We reply to every application, and the first conversation is a phone call with one of the principals. Pay depends on licenses and experience and is discussed on that call.
